About the “UOSA”
The University of Spiritual Awakening, Inc. is a non-denominational, non-profit, independent church chartered and located in the state of Georgia. We are based in North Georgia near the mountain community of Ellijay. We are a church, but our name includes the term “university” because of our strong emphasis on a higher order of teaching and learning — about who we are as Sons of God and why we are here on earth. We believe man has lost memory of his True Identity and that each person must experience his own “spiritual awakening” — to awaken to his true Nature as a Son of God. Our mission is to minister Life to the whole person: spirit, mind, and body.
What We Believe
· We believe man’s problems today are not caused by politicians or the economy. Rather, organized religions and their religious leaders who did not wait on their ministry are the primary cause of man’s woes. These leaders were trained, financed, and sent by man, rather than being taught and sent by God. As a result, they do not understand, preach, or operate in accordance with the Law of Life. This has resulted in man’s state of confusion, hatred, war, disease, and fear.
· We believe God is not broke, and His sons are not poor. A man who is sent by God to do a work will never need to struggle and beg for money. We therefore do not charge for any service we provide. We look to God, the Spirit, who has “sent” us to finance His work. What we received from God, we received for free. How could we then charge a price for it? Furthermore, it is a priceless gift.
· We believe the Bible is Knowledge that was inspired by Spirit, given to mankind as a “school master” to assist in his remembrance of his True Identity. The intent of the Bible is to point one to knowing the Author of it. Since the Bible is a “school” book, students should graduate from Bible school and enter higher University studies in order to complete their training.
· We believe man is able to overcome all of his seeming obstacles in the earth realm as he follows the Inner Voice of Guidance that is within every person who is incarnate on earth. The five physical senses must be converted, so that they will serve man well, rather than lord over him. By renewing the Spirit of one’s mind, the senses can operate in their proper manner and place of service, rather than exercising rulership over man.
· We believe the physical body to be the temple of God and that we have the responsibility and privilege to purify our minds and bodies. Therefore we believe in developing wise eating habits, drinking clean water, and cleansing the physical inner parts as well as the mind or spiritual parts. We believe all physical disease begins in the area of the colon and is the direct result of spiritual ignorance.
· We believe man cannot experience lasting physical health and obtain eternal Life in the body apart from first experiencing spiritual health! And spiritual health comes from knowing and experiencing our True Identity as Sons of God — not merely believing something someone else or a book tells us about God and ourselves. Truth ingested and assimilated through meditation on the Word of God and being a doer of the Truth, not merely a hearer, is the savior and healer of man.
Where Does the Church Meet?
We are new to the Ellijay area and are just beginning to establish ourselves here and do not as yet have a permanent facility. Hence we meet in the home of our senior minister and in a local meeting hall. We look forward to having a permanent building, but until we are able to do so, we are quite comfortable meeting as we do. How Do We Define Success for the University?
The University of Spiritual Awakening is looking forward to further growth in numbers and types of outreach, however it has always been our experience that the number of participants is not a marker of God’s blessing or success for our ministry. We measure our success by each individual’s spiritual growth; his understanding; and his practice of the Law of the Spirit in his everyday life. The true blessings of God are not material in nature, but are rather invisible Substance, such as understanding and living by the Law of Spirit and Life. We do look forward to having our own permanent facility, however. We are expecting that the Spirit will manifest the ownership or use of land and buildings where we will offer whole-person-health retreats to study and teach essential methods to purify the mind and heal the body, through dietary and lifestyle change. We also look forward to radio and television outreach.
Who is Our Senior Minister?
Dr. Lillie is our senior minister. She has been involved in church ministry for more than 30 years. She was called to the office of ministry near the age of 40 after a personal encounter with the Love of God. She then spent more than seven years shut away in her home, studying, fasting, and praying until she had an experience somewhat like that of the apostle Paul. She was “caught up” into the Light, and has ever since served as a minister teaching the Message of Life. She has pastored churches in Louisiana, California, and Tennessee. More importantly, her only teacher has been and continues to be the Spirit of Truth.
Do We Have Written Materials You Can Study?
Yes! The church offers literally volumes of study material, all personally authored by Dr. Lillie. Visit our web site at: www.awakeandlive.org to read and print these materials at no charge. If you do not have Internet access, call us and we will describe available study materials. The printed writings are free, but we do ask for contributions to meet the cost of material, printing, and postage.
Have You Experienced a Stirring Within – an Inner Knowing of a Work That You Are Here to Accomplish? We know that the Spirit of God has led us here to be established in Ellijay, Georgia. We are also aware that others have been divinely led to this area, many finding themselves not yet exactly sure why they are here, yet knowing inside themselves that “This is where I am led to be.
